Curriculum Vitae

 Practice Model and Focus

Twenty years of hands on patient care, advanced care training, and supporting degrees and background, I have developed a focused education centered practice format. I believe in taking the time to learn about a patient’s life outside of the standard office visit to increase prevention, compliance, and treatment through education and active, reflective, and non-violent communication.

I am trained in outpatient, urgent, emergent, wound and inpatient general medicine. My areas of interest and focus are diseases of lifestyle, non-narcotic pain management, general psychiatry: depression, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, preventative care, acute and chronic wound management, gynecology and women’s health from puberty through geriatrics, headache and stress medicine, palliative care, end of life counseling, low risk expectant management, general urgent care, and prevention. I use a combination of evidence-based allopathic medicine, diet and lifestyle modification, and evidence-based alternative medicine tailored specifically to the needs and acceptance of the patient. I am comfortable with pediatrics through early geriatrics.

My areas of research interest include neuropsychiatry, emergency medicine, and evidence-based alterative modality.  I have participated in immunological and anesthesia research and am peer review published I further have focused on wound care as my specialty choice. I have two years of hyperbaric training with focus on wound care, a double elective in medical school in wound care treatment and management, and 16 additional months general practice with focus on wound care and minor surgery.

The background in emergency medicine, urgent care, and family practice adequately suits me for all manner of urgent care and family medicine visits. My procedural specialties include advanced suture, lesion removal, IV therapy, casting/splinting/fracture reduction, minor surgeries, acute and chronic wound care, intubation/airway management, and low-risk expectant delivery. I have acquired the skills to work gently and calmly in high stress (emotional or physiological) situations while providing excellent patient care and emotional comfort. I have both professional and patient references available upon request.

Part of a prospective data gathering to discern how students are losing interest in STEM fields and what we can do to keep them engaged. I maintain a website with science events geared to engage children in STEM fields and gather data at various conventions and conferences on what captures the interest of kids in science and where and how we lose them into other careers.
